The art department at Old Dominion University is holding an Halloween event called Fright Night. For our class we decided to hold a mock election with a twist that the candidates must be an iconic monster from movies. The deliverables for the project are a poster, pamphlet, and a yard sign or billboard.
Project Overview
Research
I refreshed my knowledge on the Hellraiser Franchise by watching the first three installments and the most recent version on Hulu. Furthermore, to get more information on the Chatterer, I looked at the fan wiki to see if there was anything I missed or lore that wasn’t discussed in the movie.

I also took a look at some previous election campaigns to see what their visual identity looked like. One of the more notable campaigns was the 2020 presidential election. I took a look at both the Democrats and Republicans to see if there was a difference in identity. Furthermore, I took a look at my local government elections identity to see what they looked like too.
When starting my logo, I wanted it to mimic the puzzle cube and be 3-d with the teeth. On the second rendition, I made the cenobite more clear and added a start to keep the election element. Something that I got feedback on is the small details of the teeth and how I would lose that when scaled down. In that case I found that I could keep it 3-D with two sides and keep the “C” and “B” for Cenobite.

Takeaway
During the Fright Night event, the teacher set up a voting system where people could vote for their top 3 candidates. The Cenobite ended up being the top 5 out of 27 candidates. Overall, people had a good reaction to it when I was talking to people in the area and got some compliments on my poster. I think that there could be some improvements in the illustration of the cenobite. Furthermore, this helped me learn how to create an identity around something that is already well-known.
